Amex Card Perk – Plaza Premium Lounge Access Review

Can’t get enough of airport lounges?  Consider a Priority Pass.

Amex? Wondering what the airport lounge access is like and if it’s worth the annual fee? I was fortunate enough to get invited to try out the Plaza Premium Lounges in Terminal 1 and 3 at Pearson (Toronto) Airport and am happy to report back the below.

Note that the lounges are accessible to the following Amex cardholders:
The Platinum Card / Business Platinum Card
Air Miles Reserve Card
Corporate Platinum Card

Not a cardholder? No, problem! The lounges are accessible to anybody at the following rates:
2 Hour lounge use $40 + tax
3 Hour lounge use $50 + tax
6 Hour lounge use $70 + tax
*Child rate (ages 2-11) = 30% off
**Children under the ages of 2 are free

So, what’s included?
1. Drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) + coffees and teas
2. Entrees and finger foods, soups, salads, deserts, and treats
3. Shower access
4. Internet access, including computer workstations
5. International newspapers and magazines

Also, there is a meeting/prayer room available for an extra charge if you require additional privacy.

So the big question: Is it worth it? Absolutely!
Considering a bottle of water will cost you $3 and a sandwich over $10, you’re better off spending the little extra to get unlimited food and drinks. This is on top of the fact that the lounges give you larger more comfortable seating, electrical outlets at each seat, friendly and attentive staff, and an overall better waiting experience.
