Concerts Announced! Montreal Jazz Fest 2017 | Le Festival de Jazz de Montréal 2017


The 38th edition of the Montreal Jazz Festival has been officially announced with 10 concerts (with more to come) listed below.  Ticket sales started November 25, 2016 and more info can be found at the festival website.

Buddy Guy | Charlie Musselwhite | Lucky Peterson — Triple bill
A major-league blues evening in Place des Arts, with three giants of the genre… a classic triple bill!
June 30, 7:30 p.m., Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, PdA (Événements spéciaux TD series)

Pink Martini
Somewhere between jazz, chanson, classics and retro, the suave, savvy Pink Martini orchestra never fails to pour out a cocktail of musical exhilaration… Make it a double!

Jesse Cook
A guitar virtuoso we’re always thrilled to welcome back to the Festival: Jesse Cook, with his forthcoming new album.

Charlotte Cardin
An absolute buzz on the Québécois music scene, Charlotte Cardin rolls in with songs from her debut EP released in July.

Ambrose Akinmusire
Star saxophonist and Blue Note protégé, American reedman Ambrose Akinmusire unveils his new album.
June 29, 8 p.m., Monument-National (Jazz Beat Hyatt Regency Montréal series)

Hiromi and Edmar Castaneda Duo
They met last year at the Festival, when Edmar Castaneda opened for Hiromi. They shared an instant creative chemistry… so much so that now, the two virtuosi will share the stage!

Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles
After bringing us The Revival last summer, keyboardist Cory Henry returns with his Funk Apostles and their incredible groovy in-your-face jazz.

Rodrigo Amarante
Creator of the famed theme song of the Narcos series, Rodrigo Amarante’s music grooves between Brazilian saudade and soaring folk. Discover his spellbinding style in its full band version!
July 6, 6 p.m., Club Soda (Couleurs SAQ series)

Donny McCaslin
Brilliant saxophonist Donny McCaslin returns to the Festival with a new album, the excellent Beyond Now, dedicated to David Bowie, with whom he collaborated on the legend’s final album (Blackstar).
June 30, 10:30 p.m., Gesù (Jazz dans la nuit series)

Mark Guiliana Jazz Quartet
One of the most high-profile drummers on the current jazz scene, Mark Guiliana is accompanied by Chris Morrissey (bass), Shai Maestro (piano) and Jason Rigby (tenor sax) for this new 100% acoustic project.
