At the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Chinese drone manufacturer EHang stole the spotlight with the unveiling of their EHang184, the first fully electric autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV), aka drone. This area of personal flight has been getting a lot of attention lately and EHang is the first to capture the attention of the world.
With EHang184 taking the lead, there are other noteworthy startups developing similar technology including Canadian startup AirVinci.
AirVinci, and Founder Tarek Ibrahim, have been featured on TEDx and is the poster child of Founder Institute’s Toronto chapter. AirVinci claims a 260lbs payload capability with an automation feature that will return to a preset destination, say in the case of automated deliveries or skydive users. With test-flights scheduled to happen in mid-2016 it is a must-watch startup alongside EHang and other AAV creators.
